Jim Bracken, 54, a former member of the Saskatoon sex crimes unit, pleaded guilty on Wednesday. He is to be sentenced June 7 at Saskatoon provincial court for an offense alleged to have occurred between February 7 and 24. the victim’s name is under a publication ban. The sentencing hearing will outline the facts. Bracken’s lawyer said the plea is the best path, and a police discipline review will not proceed as he is retired.
President Bush nominated David Wilkins a 58 year old South Carolina lawyer and Speaker of the state house to be the next U S ambassador to Canada. Wilkins who ran Bushs campaigns in the state must still be Senate confirmed and did not return a call from his Greenville home. He has long standing ties to former president George H W Bush.
