City finance director Harold Ellis says despite a one mill property tax rise, average Medicine Hat homeowners will pay less in 1973 than 1972 due to provincial discounts on educational taxes. A $7,000 assessed home nets about $228 in taxes after discounts, saving roughly $106 from 1972.
Transport Minister Jean Marchand announced the end of U S customs preclearance for passengers from Canada to the United States affecting Air Canada routes at Montreal Toronto Winnipeg and Vancouver.
