School shut as brush fire roars again

Duffield residents faced a second day of school disruption as a brush fire burned deep into the ground, consuming about 30 kilometers of land. About 300 students were bused to Keep Hills for safety as winds rekindled a smaller blaze, destroying sheds and vehicles before firefighters regained control.

Laval man charged after beating linked to alleged assault

In Laval Quebec a man was charged with assault with a weapon after Michel Latendresse 48 was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed near his apartment following a Monday report he sexually assaulted a young girl about 11. Authorities seek three other suspects. Michel Richer has ties to Latendresse’s alleged victim’s family.

Thieves steal artist’s bronze sculpture in gallery
