Protester Injured by Plastic Bullet Seeks Legal Action

In Quebec City during the Summit of the Americas protest Eric Laferriere faced a plastic bullet wound to the throat causing a tracheotomy and a fractured larynx. He states the officer fired from about five feet away and plans to sue police.

Brush fire evacuates Alberta school

A large brush fire near Duffield Alberta forced the evacuation of about 300 students from Duffield school to a Seba Beach school as a precaution. Residents in six rural subdivisions near Duffield were evacuated. No homes reported destroyed and no injuries. Cause undetermined.

Doctor trained by magazine defends diagnosis on appeal

Dr Albert Deep an internist practises cardiology and psychotherapy says he learns psychiatric concepts by reading the New England Journal weekly since 1953. He defended his diagnosis of former patient Klara Geller who he treated for three years listing many psychiatric disorders and heart disease. The Health Professions board heard the appeal and reserved its decision after two days.
