Lack of Gold May Deter Italy from Carrying on Her Ethiopian Campaign
In Geneva April 22 the League of Nations warned that Italy faces a shrinking gold reserve due to sanctions and war costs. Bank of Italy foreign assets dropped about 105.3 million gold dollars since October, with exports to 30 nations also tumbling from 17.03 million in November to 5.86 million in February. The council plans no meeting until May 11 and Ethiopia protested council inaction.
