Legion honours eldest veterans at 90th anniversary lunch
The Robertson Memorial Branch No. 17 hosted a lunch for members aged 90 and older, recognizing WWII service and the Royal Canadian Legion's 90th anniversary. Frank Simmons, 90, a Navy veteran with 71 years in the Legion, and Roy Gale, 95, Army veteran with 60 years of membership, recalled wartime service and the importance of remembrance. The event highlighted 22 members aged 90+ among about 800 local members, with reminiscences of service in England, Italy, Belgium, and Gibraltar.
