Inquiry ordered into Bowden inmates escape and teen abduction
The Correctional Service of Canada will probe how Gordon Kennedy and Erik Wanamaker escaped Bowden Institution last Friday. A teenaged girl was abducted from an Olds area home. Wanamaker faces a new sexual assault charge after a suspect pursuit near Turner Valley. Kennedy, on day parole, had an eight and a half year sentence for four counts of sexual assaults. Wanamaker, serving eleven years, escaped from a minimum security area or off site work. The inquiry coincides with calls for policy changes on releasing violent sexual offenders.
