Helley trial moved again in Redcliff Food Fair case

Medicine Hat man Mark Bradley Helley, 40, faces uttering threats robbery aggravated assault and weapon charges for the Redcliff Food Fair store robbery on February 26 and two attempted and completed robberies within minutes on February 27 at Tim Hortons on 13 Avenue SE and 7-11 on Carry Drive.

Farmer fined for 50 cattle carcasses cleanup fail

The Canadian Press reports Firmin M. Declercq of Belgium Farms was fined 9000 for disposing of about 50 dead cattle in a pit under the Livestock Diseases Act. Alberta Agriculture staff had previously given chances to address the stinking mess. Declercq, 63, and his company were ordered to pay 4500 each.

Cenaiko pushes bid for police training college in Alberta

Alberto's solicitor general plans a new push for funding a proposed police training facility after 2006 budget funds were not set aside. Cenaiko favors a public private partnership with 30 communities bidding, a May contract and fall start were planned, but lack of money sent the project back to the drawing board.

Possible pyramid found in Bosnia in Visoko hill

Archaeologists digging near Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, report a 650 metre mound resembling a pyramid with 45 degree slopes and a flat top. Initial findings include a paved entrance plateau, tunnel entrances, and large stone blocks that may form an outer surface. Nearby, pilgrims move along Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem on Good Friday.

Rising river levels on the Carrot River force Red Earth reserve to evacuate about 250 elderly, mothers with babies, and pregnant women to Prince Albert. The remaining 1,100 residents will move Saturday as a 100 homes near the river face flooding from an ice jam.
