Bank of Canada to assess Ottawa budget promises

The Bank of Canada will release a long awaited assessment of how much Ottawa’s budget pledges will lift the economy. The quarterly update coincides with a policy rate decision and follows the Liberal plan expecting deficits totaling over 110 billion dollars across five years. The finance department forecasts 0.5 percent growth this year and 1 percent in 2017-18, with 143000 jobs created or maintained, though experts note potential overestimation.
