On April 11 1506 construction started on Saint Peter's Basilica under Pope Julius II with Michelangelo and Raphael guiding efforts. The project began today 500 years ago and later completed in 1626, while the original church dated to the fourth century.
Medicine Hat announces the annual Yard Waste Collection program starts Tuesday April 18. Residents must place yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection days. Acceptable materials include leaves grass clippings branches and plants with bundles limited to 1.2 metres for woody material and 25 kg per container. No plastic bags. The Redcliff RCMP say a resident heard a crash on Main Street and witnessed a red Dodge truck backing from a parked vehicle before fleeing. The truck was located later and a charge of failing to remain at the scene is pending against the driver.
