A Burnaby man, Murray Wooldrige, 50, was struck by a skydiver who veered off course during Stanley Park centennial celebrations. Wooldrige fractured his jaw and lost a tooth, underwent surgery to wire the jaw, and could miss up to six weeks of work as a personnel officer. His wife, Dianne, said he shielded her as the collision occurred outside a roped-off viewing area. Six divers had landed safely before the accident.

Serge Lefebvre a 40 year old Quebec City officer with 19 years on the force pleaded guilty to the July killings of Constable Jacques Giguere and Yves Tetu. Justice Trottier accepted the plea and imposed a life sentence with 25 years before parole.
