Washington April 6 The largest peacetime appropriation in US history 4.88 billion dollars was approved to fund jobs and end dole with Congress delivering Senate approval and a House endorsement amid Republican charges of aiding Roosevelt’s 1936 bid.
In Yorkton Saskatchewan on April 6 CP report details a 12 year old Peter Elash death from diphtheria on December 6 1930. The boy’s father plotted to harm the Greek Catholic priest Father Bala and later Elash attacked public safety official Albert Deligrge and mortally wounded himself. An inquest read a letter blaming Catholic priests for a secret war.
John J. McFarland, general manager of the Canadian wheat pool, told the Winnipeg Tribune that hope remains for a fair return to farmers. He argued a wheat board could work without full control of oats, barley, and rye and pressed the need to influence price setting rather than leave it to international exporters and milling firms.

The government forecasts a revenue shortfall of 111 500 for 1935 36, with 538 000 expected next year versus 650 000 previously.
Alberta teachers would secure employment only if they join the Alberta Teachers’ Society under a bill introduced in the legislature. The act would allow trustees to withhold part of teachers’ salaries as dues, funding the society, with standards and eligibility extended to normal schools and university staff.
