Neodesha Kansas April 1 Canadian Press Three of the Winnipeg Toilers eight survivors remain in critical condition after a forced landing in a soggy field. Andy Brown star forward is in grave danger along with Ian Woolley captain and Al Silver-Morne 29. Six of the 14 aboard are dead or dying with others not expected to recover. The Winnipeg Toilers were returning from Tulsa after a series with the Oilers Amateur Athletic Union champions of the United States.

Verigin Deportation Case Sparks Commons Debate

In Gltana on March 31, Hon. Hugh Guthrie stated the Dominion had the legal right to commute a prisoner for deportation. He cited a Supreme Court reversal of Justice Mellish’s Nova Scotia ruling that spared Peter Verigin from deportation. Labour MP Woodsworth criticized the release as improper use of royal prerogative. The minister insisted the Verigin parole had no role and backed deportation under the Immigration Act.

In three days of selling 638 beef bulls passed through the Calgary auction ring under W J Durne Matt Hagsen and Clarence Damron. The sale total reached 70165 with an average of 110 per head. Hereford topped with 364 sold at 123.04 on average while Aberdeen Angus averaged 100.08 for 58 head and Red Polls averaged 100 and Shorthorns 90.07. Alberta Bill Announces Tax Return Disclosure and Filing Changes

Edmonton March 31 Pending bill to amend the Alberta Income Tax Act would allow reciprocal inspections of returns between Dominion and provincial officials and end strict secrecy. The measure also changes filing dates to February 28 for salaries and dividends and expands taxpayer representation for appeals.
