Lanning, son of Mr, and Mrs. Russell Lanning, also of Rolfe, were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 1971, at the United Methodist Church, Rolfe.The Rev. Warren A. Bintz performed the double ring ceremony before the altar decorated with purple and white gladiolus and lighted candles. Mrs. Raymond Maj-orowicz was organist and played “Grand March of Aida” for the processional. She also played “The Lord’s Prayer” as the couple knelt at the altar.The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of angel skin peau de soie and chantilly type lace. The gown designed with an a-line silhouette had a scalloped collar and Victorian styled sleeves. Her mantilla veil was of silk illusion and matching chantilly type lace. She carried an all white bou-uqet of roses, miniature carnations and baby’s breath with white satin streamers.Miss Jane Christensen, friend of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Debbie Lanning, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, Joan Lanning, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. The bridal attendants wore empire styled gowns of purple crepe with puffed sleeves and accented with ivory lace trim. They wore daisies in their hair and each carried a bouquet of purple and lavender asters with white daisies and baby’s breath. Mrs. Vernon Smith of Evanston, Wyo., was personal attendant for her niece.Edward C. Miller of Iowa City, friend of the groom, was best man. Rich Carlson was groomsman. Guests were seated by Bill Lanning and j Roger Bennett. The men in the wedding party and the father of the bride wore darkforma! attire. There will also be a display of antique items and articles for sale.The guest speaker will be Mr. Don Buchan of Marathon. His topic will be. “Norsemen In Iowa Before 1492—Fact or Fiction.” Mr. Buchan has been speaker at church functions in 27 states, feature writer for 14 magazines and newspapers and the author of four books.Tickets sales are in charge of O. E. Lehnus and may also be secured from Mrs. Thomas Diggs or Lester Applegate.
