Ballou-StevensonNuptials in ChurchcBettv Ballou, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Charles Ballou, Jr., 519 N, Highland, and Tom G. Stevenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Stevenson, 317 \V. Main, were united in marriage Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. The Rev. LaMoine Waldron officiated at the double ring ceremony in tiie First Christian church.The altar was decorated with haskets of white gladioli and two seven branch candelabra entwined with lemon leave*The traditional wedding music was pla\ed by Barbara Hunt, Organist She also accompanied Mrs John Bowes who sang “Because ’ and “The Lord s Prayer.”The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of white silk organza. Ale neon lace medallions outlined the scoop neckline, the slmes, the empire waistline and were use, with alternating bands of pin tucks at the hem of the skirt and on the detachable Watteau panel tram. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was held by a silk organza rase, and her only jewelry was a diamond pendant, the gift of the groom She carried a cascade bouquet of a white orchid with white rose*,.Paula Uhnworth, maid of honor, wore a floor length gown of white linen made with a scoop neckline and an A line skirt A blue \el\et ribbon marked the empire waistline. Her colonial bouquet was of blue carnations and she wore a Dior bow of blue linen in her hair The bridesmaids were Linda Sparks and Nancy Slane Their dresses of blue linen were identical to the maid of honor. They wore blue Dior bows in their hair and their colonial bouquets were of white carnations,Joe Stevenson, brother of the groom, was best man Groomsmen wee Van Stevenson, brother of the groom, and Charles Ballou HI. brother of the bride The ushering duties were per-* formed by Jerry Elrod and jjim Scott. Jimmy Stevenson, brother of the groom, was the ring bearer.The mother of the bride chose a blue three piece dress of silk linen with matching accessories. The groom's mother was dressed in pink evelet batiste ! with matching accessories.They both wore corsages of white carnationsA reception in fellowship hall followed the ceremony The serving table was covered with a white linen cloth with white net overlay. A miniature bride and groom tapped the four tiered wedding cake which was flanked with crystal candelabra holding white candles. Mrs. Ruth Whitworth and Jean Kay Huffman served the cake, and Nancy Colvin and Betty Earnest poured punch Bocce Naff was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Miles 0ler and Jeanne Guy took rare of the gift table which was co\ered with blue felt and an overlay of blue net.For her going away costume the bride chose a sheath dress with jacket of white lace lined with light blue Her accessories were blue and she wore a white orchid corsageMrs. Stevenson is a 1965 graduate of Chanute High School and was salutatorian of her class She is employed at the Self Service Grocery. Stevenson graduated from Chanute High ^’hool in 1962 and attended Chanute Junior College. This fall he will continue his education at Emporia State College.
