Downes, of Denton, became the bride of Dr. Irl Wentz, son of Mr. and Mrr. Clark Wentz, of Pleasant Hill, Hanover,Pa,The Rev. John Francli performed the double ring ceiemony before the church altar, -which was entwined with summer flowers in biidal white and green. A lovely decorative arrangement, further featuring these shades, was effected with a laige basket of gladiolus and fern flanking each side of the altar, and tall lighted cathedral tapers in a center candelabra with smaller ones on each side, lighted the church with a soft glow of candlelight.To the strains of Lohengrin’s “Wedding March,” the bride entered the church on the arm of her brother, James Ernest Downes, of Drexel Hill, Pa., who gave her in marriage. She wore a beautiful gown of ivory, bridal satin, fashioned with high, round neckline, on a nylon yoke, extending to an off-the-shoulder -wide fold effect, outlined with seed pearl embroidery, and a fitted bodice. The full gathered skirt swept into a full sweeping train, with graceful folds falling from the close-fitting basque waistline. The long, tightly-fitted sleeves were embroidered with cluster of seed pearls and pointed over the hand. Her finger-tip length veil of French illusion, which matched the gown in shade, fell from a bonnet-shaped halo entwined with seed pearls. She carried a white satin prayer book and a white orcnid with miniatures on satin streameisMrs. James Ernest Downes, of Drexel Hill, Pa., sister-in-law of the bride, was her matron of honor, and only attendant. Her gown was of maize faille, fashioned with a round neckline yoke of net, extending to a wide fold, fitted hip-length bodice, and a full hooped skirt. She wore matching faille gauntlets and carried a fan-shaped nosegay of talisman and yellow roses with blue delphinium and bouvardia. Her hat was of matching silk net of poke bonnet effect.For his best man, the bridegroom had a classmate, Dr. Richard A. Young, of Baltimore. Mr. Robert W. Downes Jr. and Mr. W. A. Stewart Wright, cousins of the bride, of Denton, were ushers.Miss. Lulu Downes, paternal aunt of the ,bride, wore a frock of summer silk print in pastel pink and white with harmonizing accessories and a corsage of pink carnations and babv’s breath. Mrs. Clark Wentz, the groom’s mother, chose a frock of navy sheer with matching accessories, with which she wore a corsage of pink carnations* The groom and best man wore officer’s formal attire.Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Gail Cooper, organist, played several organ selections which included “0 Promise Me,” “I Love You Truly,” and “Intermezzo,” and Mrs. ^ Benjamin Johnson, soloist, of Denton, rendered “Because.” While the nuptial vows were being spoken, Mrs. Johnson softly sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” accompanied by Mrs. Cooper.
