One of Miss Machan’s former students, Miss Frances Water-bury, of Bedford, 0., sponsored a young Frenchman, Pierre Duvot, in his efforts to continue his education in America.The 20-year-old youth was a member of the underground in his native city of Paris during the war.During his tenure of service in a hospital in France, Duvot became acquainted with Miss Waterbury, who was stationed at the same medical center with the Red Cross.
