Forrest Hergert read the vows for the bride and bridegroom as tney stood before the candlehghted altar which was decorated with baskets of white gladioli During the ceremony “Babe” Lotino sang two favorite wedding solos — “Because” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”Miss Schmidt wore a gown of white lace over organza The bodice ot the gown was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and had long sleeves. She carried a bouquet of white roses and carnations. Her only jewelry was a cultured pearl necklace, a gift of the bridegroom.The bride was given in marriage by her godfather. Morns Schmidt. Serving the bridegroom as best man was his close friend Bob Matthews, formerly of Dolton, now in the U.S. Air Force. Bert Biown, a brother-in-law of the bridegroom and Richard Schmidt, brother of the bride, served as ushers.Georgians “Gig” Burke was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Darlene Shupert and Sharon Grapenthien. The girls wore ballerina length gowns of pink oiganza. They carried bouquets of pmk and white carnations.Mrs. Schmidt wore beige lace over organza and completed her outfit with beige accessories. Her flowers were white carnations. Mrs. Cogswell chose a gown of pink crystalette. She woie white accessories and her flowers were white carnations fashioned into a corsage.A reception for 400 guests immediately followed the wedding ceremony, and was held m the K.C. hall m Riverdale.The young couple spent their honeymoon m Wisconsin and are now residing at 14228 Oak, Dolton.
