Cincinnati, April 3.White Water Canal,—The ceremony of breaking ground for this great improvement took place at North Bend, on the farm of General Harrison, oij Saturday last. About 11 o’clock, the new and handsome steamboat Moselle, Capt. Perin, left our wharf with a large number of ladies and gentlemen, among whom were General Harrison, Xoseph Bonsall, Esq. President P. T. and the Directors of the Cana! Company. After a pleasant run ofless'than an hour, they reached the Bend, and, having repaired to the spot, the President addressed the Patriot Farmer in a manner suited to the occasion, to which the General replied in his usual happy manner, and having received the spade from Mr. Bonsall, he proceeded to remove the first shovel full ot earth in this enterprise, so immediately connected with the future prosperity of this beautiful and growing city. Timothy Walker, Esq. being colled upon, made a neat and appropriate address on the occasion. The company then repaired on board the boat, and partook of a handsome collation, which being ended, the veteran statesman and hero landed amidst the most deafening cheers; and the Moselle, with her delightful company, returned to the city. The weather was as fine as could be desired, and all were gratified.—Evening Post.
