Fire guts Maple Creek home as Gina Samson helped to safety
A early Tuesday blaze on Cypress Street in Maple Creek gutted the residence where Gina Samson and three others lived. Neighbours say a man helped a woman to safety after a neighbour alerted them. Fire chief Blaine Becker said the roof collapsed and crews worked about three hours to extinguish the fire. Authorities from Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and Regina investigators are reviewing the scene near the Senior Citizens' Centre as Maple Creek residents mourn a deeply felt community loss.
