Manilla Red Cross Garden Party Aided by Local Support
A windy damp Saturday did not deter Manilla Red Cross from staging a garden party at Retreat, Strafford Street, transformed into a vivid Memorial Hall. Dr G R Park opened the fete after National Anthem, with Mrs Strafford and Ald A R Macleod among speakers lauding the volunteers. Rural School Band and Choir entertained as afternoon tea, raspberry drinks, hoopla and lucky dip provided amid flags and flowers, underMrs N L Chapman and Mesdames R Park Cy Veness committee supervision.
