Travelling Stock Reserves Policy Clarified by Undersecretary Letter
The Undersecretary of Lands reports Hon. F. A. Chaffey that administration of travelling stock reserves will stay with the Lands Department. The policy places control with Pastures Protection Boards, with 3,826 reserves now under their authority. Stock movements and owner interests govern entitlements, and any curtailment requires local Land Board investigation and resolutions by both Houses. The Pastures Protection Bill aims to permanently transfer control to the boards. Stock owners may rely on Government protection of their interests.
