Australian freighter torpedo attack leaves crew injured
A few months ago an Australian freighter was torpedoed near a coastal port. The blast blew away the stern and 22 crew members were injured while asleep in bunks. five men were killed. Among the injured was Laurie Bienall, son of Mrs and Mrs W. H. Bignall of Arlington Manilla. The submarine departed, and the ship later sank after the crew evacuated to boats and then returned to the ship to cut it free 9 ports away.
