Manilla Rural School sewerage link under review

Fire Damages Empty House on Court Street
A Monday evening blaze at about 6 30 in Manila damaged the back door and four walls of an unoccupied house on Court Street owned by Mr W Sly. Brighde received two calls to attend. Manila police are investigating the fire.

Sporting bodies and employers can aid Legacy by organising days for fundraising and inquiring about Legacy employment needs. Landowners may donate firewood. President B V Bytes laments poor turnout as only 12 of 200 members attend a special general meeting. The quorum of 15 was not met, forcing cancellation of the meeting and a planned committee session on proposed membership fee increases. Secretary’s efforts seen as wasted.

Unclean Milking Machinery Fined Vendor Under Pure Foods Act
Douglas B. Upson, milk vendor from West Manilla, was fined £5 for breaching the Pure Foods Act after a Manilla route inspection on 7th duty. Constable Medhurst and Dairys Inspector Tamworth found milking pipes and the milk vat with stale yellow fat deposits. Defence counsel argued lack of reliable help to run the dairy and urged safeguarding the public.

Woman Struck By Truck On Arthur Street
Mrs W Harrison of Arthur street was struck by a truck while walking with her husband near Freezing. She was taken to Manilla Hospital for treatment and later discharged. The Palais Theatre proprietor Mr W Harrison is her husband.
