A wartime district notice promotes a touring ALP convoy to explain war needs and solicit subscriptions to the 100,000,000 War Loan. It urges every Australian to contribute, notes generals warnings on reinforcements and munitions, and stresses the duty of all ages to aid the war effort.
At Tuesday night council meeting the Commonwealth War Loans and War Savings Campaign Committee outlined a visit by an Army Mobile Convoy and a War Loan speaker for the £100,000,000 Conversion Loan to Manila. Ald Ghys lamented petrol waste driving the convoy, noting plenty of fuel for travel while farmers suffer. The Mayor and Ald Wilshire pressed for action, and an open air meeting was proposed for Tuesday. The council approved cooperation to ensure the convoy visit. More than 9,200 officers and guests attended a Sunday At Home at Manila Road Camp.
The regular voice in National programme commentary for school pupils is the Sound informative speaker in the Victorian Educational Broad casts, presenting a news commentary series titled The World We Live In.
NSW Premier Mr. W J Merell urged preservation of the country press independence to protect rural interests and resist standardisation. He warned against metropolitan dominance and noted that local towns shape public opinion more than big dailies, citing the impact on rural NSW. Also: a shipyard strike resolved. Moree seeks a state meat-killing works.
Old-age and invalid pensioners may obtain a return train ticket once yearly at a reduced fare for travel to Sydney or elsewhere in New South Wales. Certificates must be shown at booking offices, with renewal yearly. Pensioners in Sydney or Newcastle may apply to local officers for concession fare certificates.

Red Cross parcels for Australian prisoners of war are dispatched weekly by the Canadian Red Cross at the direction of the Australian Red Cross. Parcels travel by sea to Lisbon, rail to Switzerland, then delivered to camps by the International Red Cross. Each week eighteen ounces of various foods plus vitamins are included. A note from Mt. Evelyn Victoria reports Rev William Green, age 94, becoming a father, a Commonwealth record. In the past seven weeks forty one can souflage nets have been made by Taverell Women.
