A BALDWIN and R H HUDSON issue cautions canceling all permissions on their properties Brabri TM Willamby and Springmount. Manilla newspaper notices carried by Alton Richmond McLeod warn of legal action for shooting hunting and fence interference. A Barraba raid during Sydney racing led to 13 arrests with bail set.
The Manilla Agricultural Society held a pasture improvement competition judged by a Department of Agriculture official. Winners included B Nixon with 750 acres of grazing, while A E Coote won under 1000 acres with 569 acres, featuring extensive sown pasture and grain crops. Rainfall for ten months was below normal, yet pastures and stock remained strong across entrants. Experimental work with lucerne, phalaris, and inoculation showed promising responses to superphosphate in this district.
Coroner J N Kennedy held an inquest into the October 9 fire at the Council Chambers storeroom. Witnesses described two young boys Neville Taylor and Bob Manley, ages 11 and 10, admitting playful matches caused the blaze. The fire caused about £70 damage. buildings and contents were insured.
Witnesses say Neville Taylor and Robert Manley unintentionally started a fire at the Council Chambers on October 9. A bystander reported breaking a window to use a chemical extinguisher and called in help from other firemen who put out the flames. The coroner ruled the store room sustained fire damage and named both children as accidental causes.
Attunga chased down Waratah's target for a 10 wicket win after Waratah was bowled out for 119 in their first innings. Winder led Attunga with 82 including 12 boundaries while Abra scored 64 with seven boundaries. Waratah’s Frank Grady claimed five for 38, and in the second innings Waratah were all out for 82. Attunga finished 10 runs shy of 194 in their first innings, then reached the target without loss to clinch the outright.
