Shire Reports Progress On Local Road Works And Bridge

The Shire engineer announced at the Mun dowa Shire Council monthly meeting that the Glenbarra deviation at 17 mile nears completion and the Hull Creek bridge is progressing well. The 17 mile Manilla Boggabri road culvert and approaches were finished last week and the Greenhatches Creek bridge at Dead Horse Gully is advancing satisfactorily. The report also notes a weekend rose display organized by Mackenzie and Sons Ltd in their store windows featuring numerous gardeners. A. R. Ms. Leod and several locals contributed to the exhibition. Mr W M O Hara flew from Sydney to New Zealand last week and plans to fly back next month. A fleet of five Japanese whale chasers arrived in Sydney Saturday en route to the Antarctic.

Lord Mayor of Sydney Dies After Illness

The Lord Mayor Sir Alfred Parker died on Friday after months of illness. A State funeral was held on Monday with a public procession and the interment at Gordon.
