Car overturns injures four in Sydney suburb crash

Mrs Sinden of Dulwich Hill admitted to hospital with minor injuries and severe shock after a car rollover near Sydney. Driver Mr Ford and two children aged three and six, all of Hargrave Park, escaped with shock. The four others were unhurt. Ford was returning to Sydney from Bingara when the tyre blew out causing the vehicle to swerve and overturn. Mrs Sinden remains in hospital in satisfactory condition.

Died while Motoring Ends in Tragic Death Near Manilla

Mrs L A Booth aged 35 of Hill Street Manilla was found dead in the back seat of her husband's car on a Saturday outing from Port Macquarie to Manilla. Her husband a Manilla dentist driving with Mrs Booth's mother discovered the body after stopping on the Oxley Highway near Wauchope. The Booths and their infant daughter were accompanied by Mrs Booth's mother. Mrs Booth had been under medical care and the funeral was held at Holy Trinity Church Manilla with interment in Armidale.

Manilla Hospital Boiler Repair Arranged

NSW Health Minister M O Sullivan advised at the last Manilla Hospital Board meeting that an engineer from the Public Works Department would inspect the boiler to find the cheapest temporary method to keep the steam plant operating until funds allow a new boiler. Hospital Secretary K Wilshire said the engineer has visited, inspected, and will submit recommendations to the Commission.

Grant Money Cut At Mandowa Shire Council Meeting

Mandowa Shire Council heard that Dept of Main Roads grant for Main Road and Trunk Road maintenance was reduced from £6250 to £4866. Engineer A H Jochimson presented an amended programme showing total funds of £6684, down from £8660, a £1976 cut. Several resumptions were trimmed: Trunk Road No 63 £130, Tamworth Road reseal £458, Main Road 357 £793, gravel resheet £651 from £1002, and Main Road 553 Somerton £291 from £570. On 14th the DMR said no further funds. work beyond the amended plan would be removed from 1952. Petrol tax grant approved for £8,480.

Hospital Board Reports September Debt and Grants

The Hospital Board reported a debt of 444 2 4 pounds as of September 30 after September receipts of 896 5 4 and payments of 1075 12 1. A special grant of 190 pounds was received in October from the Hospitals Commission toward the deficit. The remaining deficit to liquidate is 171 pounds. The 1951/52 year closed with a deficit of 1,036 pounds, from which the Commission has paid 865 pounds.

Mandowa Shire seeks 2200 grant for flood road repairs

At the Mandowa Shire Council meeting the Minister for Public Works said the council's application for a 2200 pound special grant is under consideration. The grant would fund flood damage repairs to eastern roads from August. Shire Engineer A H Jochimson noted urgent creek crossing repairs at 19 miles on the Bendemeer road must be done soon regardless of grant outcome.

Manilla Hospital Board Meets Amid Budget Strains

The Manilla Hospital Board convened in Council Chambers with Director R C Veness chairing. The Hospitals Commission declined a special grant of £54 15s 3d for nurses quarters furniture. A single nomination was received for the vacancy caused by W Co Mainder's resignation, to be forwarded for Commission approval. Two electric fans will be purchased from the Amenities Fund for the private wards. Treasurer A Browne resigned. A We Jackson was elected to the post.
