Ashford Shire Council backs hydro electric scheme plan
A deputation led by Colin Sinclair MLA urged the Minister for Works to back a hydro electric and water conservation project on the Macintyre or Severn rivers. The plan would store water to prevent artesian bore shortages and could extend toward the Queensland border, with costs up to £187,000. The minister referred the report to the Electricity Advisory Committee for a detailed survey but questioned area electricity demand viability.
