Noxious Plants and Animals Declared by Manilla Council

The Manilla Council declares several plants and animals as noxious under section 701 a of the Local Government Act 1919 including Centaurea calestrapa and Nicotiana glanea. Occupiers must destroy listed species within one month or face penalties up to fifty pounds and recovery of costs. notices and enforcement are published by the Council.

Shire Council Takes No Action On Various Letters

The council debated letters from Alawarra 5 Council and Billy bong Council with no action taken on forest conservation and cooperation to abolish State Parliaments. It approved electricity mains extension along Rushes Creek road and discussed enforcing building regulations near the municipality. Reports on ambulance work and weed control were reviewed, with measures urged against Crown Beard in the southern Shire. The auditor’s report was adopted and road works on Yartamanbully and Halls Creek were authorised to proceed as soon as possible.

Manilla Rifle Club awards prizes at annual presentation

The Manilla Rifle Club held its annual prize and smoke night at the Soldiers Club room. Guests thanked secretary C Hurcum, with musical items by Woodcock and E R Stephens. Trophy donations for 1937 were promised by D M Mackenzie, J N Kennedy, and W Rooke. Prizes were awarded to Carlyon, Sutherland, Bignall, and others, with replicas presented to past winners L Bignall and F A Pavy.

Mandowa Shire Council Considers Donations and Plans

Mandowa Shire Council met Saturday with President Dr G E Bowman and Crs G S R Park M Park F E Heywood present. They approved attending Tamworth functions in October and voted £5 to Upper Manilla Agricultural Bureau for tree planting, noting 18 trees planted. They seek a plan from the Bureau on tree locations near telegraph lines. A letter from Shires Association urged notifying the Chief Secretary about public charity meeting plans. Wongo Creek Hall committee reported a credit balance of £7 5s 3d.

Mortality in Sheep Raises Questions for Narrabri Board

The Narrabri P P Board hears concerns from Mr A Bar about sheep deaths in Riverina district and proposed actions. A flock of 400 lost about half quickly. young lambs died within hours. The stock inspector notes the disease affects four month old lambs, especially in fat condition, and can pass from mother to offspring. Sera from Methonene is available at short notice.

Trespass and hunting restrictions posted at rural properties

Notices warn that shooting hunting and fence interference on Willamby Watts Springmount and Bruce Park properties will be prosecuted without regard to persons. All permissions are canceled and trespassers warned to stay off water tanks troughs and lands under law.

Authority Warns Against Disruptive Conduct at Property

A terse notice from A. Baldwin warns that any person or group of preteens involved in shooting rapping or poisoning on NOY property will be treated with firm authority. Previous permissions are cancelled and action will be taken without respect to persons.
