Manilla Hospital Board Discusses Wages and Membership
The Manilla Hospital Board met last Saturday with president H. V. Dowe and members J. D Ry M. Park G A White W Mandder Ri Hudson Kennedy and A C Veness present. A loan of Lieve of Ibsenew was granted to G E Bowman. The Hospitals Commission advised legacies over £50 could be redirected from maintenance. The commission sent a subsidy cheque of £83 6 8. The new state award raises for nurses and domestic staff were outlined, increasing the annual wages bill by about £80. The board considered steel for nurse uniforms, choosing material provision instead. Matron reported 38 admissions (12 males 26 females) for the month, 9 remaining after 45 discharged. White ants were noted at the hospital and improvement measures discussed. Donations of wood and funds were reported, and hospital membership was debated, with calls to make it compulsory and to approach HB A Connell at Armidale. the motion was left in abeyance.
