Letter writers urge action against pollution of the Namoi river from dredging operations affecting Manilla to Walgett. They warn stock water, domestic use, fishing and bathing suffer, calling on authorities to protect a pure stream and oppose mine interests.
Fen Chaffey asked the Education Minister to arrange language instruction at Manilla Rural School so students need not leave the district for languages required for university entry.
