Manilla River bridge demand clashes with Main Roads policy

Mandowa Shire Council urged a high level bridge at Upper Manilla to replace the 1923 low level span to ease flood-time access to Barraba and the Queensland route. The Department replied the move is impractical as funding would fall on the Department, which already supports trunk and main road bridge costs. Local doctors criticized the reply as weak and outdated.
