Manilla District Council approves 1942 road works plan
The Manilla and District Municipal Council on Tuesday night approved a 1942 road maintenance programme from Engineer A Jochimsen. It covers Trunk Road 63 with patrol maintenance and paving costs, Main Road 357 and 367 works, tar penetration resurfacing for Manilla streets, and a planned reconstruction of Main Road 357. The department cautions no new large reconstructions without its approval. The Farmers and Graziers Co operative Ltd reports appraisals for the 1941/42 season with wool prices and lots from Barraba and Galong. A maize marketing poll is set for January 9 1942 with participation rules and eligibility details for producers.

Road Works and Repairs Across Shire Roads
Maintenance work completed on several shire roads with ongoing tasks on Manilla Barraba and other routes. Scarifying and grading underway on Crow Mountain Road, tar patching between Manilla and 22 mile, and construction of four pipe culverts between 40 mile and 41 mile. Grants exist for storm damage repairs on Gunnedah Road. surfacing between Idanile and Tmile funded, though not yet finished. A wire suspension footbridge at Greenhatches Creek crossing was erected in 1923 and later destroyed by flood, with a concrete culvert added to raise the road and ease delays for traffic and pedestrians.
