Seventy delegates from the Australian Provincial Press Association toured the Broken Hill Pty. Co. steel complex at Newcastle. Guides accompanied groups through the coke ovens and open hearth furnaces, with vivid demonstrations of iron to steel casting. The visit also covered the Lysaght sheet mill, Rylands wire works, Vickers Commonwealth Steel, and Australian Wire Rope Works, followed by a luncheon with MD Essington Lewis who noted employment and output figures.
