Wheat silo opening debated at Wheat Growers Conference
N Stafford and A T H Nixon with J N Kenedy represented the bwaneh at the meeting. The secretary Kennedy said the Liverpool Plains District Council had been told the Department would provide a definite opening date for silos. There was debate over whether War Agriculture Committees or the Wheat Silo Board should decide the opening date and how to avoid sending green wheat to silos. A letter was proposed to the Agriculture Minister urging reliance on the Gunnedah conference statement and local committee advice, delaying opening until proper conditions are met.
