Manilla Opens Sewerage and Water Schemes in Rain
Large crowds attended the official opening in Manilla as His Excellency Lt Gen Sir John Northcott and Miss Elizabeth Northcott opened sewerage and additional water supply schemes. The visit featured a civic reception, guards of honour, hospital introductions, and a luncheon. The Mayor noted the project history from 1933, with construction beginning in 1950, and highlighted the North Manilla 150 000 gallon reservoir supplying the sewerage scheme.
