Municipal Council notes adopted reports at regular meeting

A full Aldermen attendance occurred at the Tuesday Municipal Council meeting as the Town Clerk and Inspector reports were adopted.

Recreation Ground Use Granted with Sand Pit Approval

Mr. F. Lowe of the Rural School sought municipal permission to use the Recreation Ground on Wednesday afternoons for school sport. He also requested a permit to build a sand filled jumping pit. At Tuesday's meeting the Council granted both requests with the caveat that the pit be sited and prepared to the Inspector's approval.

Mandowa Shire Letter Ends Hospital Finance Talks

At a Municipal Council meeting on Tuesday a letter from Mandowa Shire Council stated that an alternative scheme is under trial and thus no further meetings between the two councils are needed to discuss how to finance the hospital.

Chinky Chow Bridge Standoff at Municipal Council Meeting

At the council meeting Mayo and Ald Coates debated repairing Chinky Chow Bridge with a focus on abutment adequacy and cost. Easterman demanded a permanent concrete bridge, while others favored a cheaper fix. The issue was referred to the Works Committee for a report.

Inspector's Report on Licenses and Health Administration

The health administration branches received fortnight attention. Three license applications were submitted by A Coulton for a cutting cart license J Keynes for a cutting cart small goods and fish license and W Connolly for a barbers short license all in order. I recommend granting the licenses. A prior complaint referred to me shows equitable arrangements have been made.

Ald. Coates pushes for willow planting along Namoi banks

On Tuesday night Alderman Coates advocated planting willows along both banks of the Namoi within the Municipality to beautify the scene and curb erosion. The curator promised to bring a report evaluating broader tree-planting efforts.
