Report dated 24 February 1930 notes vandalism at the recreation ground with wind damage and malicious destruction. Inspectors found broken windows doors torn from rooms under the grandstand gates damaged seats removed turnstiles stolen and the small pedestrian office damaged. Recommendations include repairing gate posts replacing seats securing sheds and caretakers quarters and repairing roofs and fences with iron sheets fastened by screws and wire to prevent further removal.
The committee calls for substantial security upgrades including outside wooden shutters on windows, bolted doors with padlocks, repairs to the southern entrance door and turnstile, and removal of a broken gate near the fence. Sanitary facilities should be repaired and entrances restricted, with notices posted warning against camping. Road work at Manila and Court Streets is also recommended.
