Manilla Show Highlights High Quality Stock And Competitions
The Manilla Show featured strong children's classes and judging by Mr Norman King of Bingara with scores of entries from the North and North West. Champion Hack Kentucky impressed judges, while Sir Neith the Grand Champion Blood Stallion, owned by N L Woods and Russell, received praise. The Grand Parade showcased about 60 horses and 30 cattle led by Shorthorns, with top riders and exhibitors recognized in multiple cups and trophies.

J Chaffey's Wagorade won the handicap trotting event with R Wilson's Miss Loma second. Show Handicap tasks saw W Beard's Umina Girl take first over L Sutherland's Brown Star. Consolation and novice trots named multiple prize winners including Shilton and Gl itering Star.

Birthday thrills at the Show honor local riders
Perhaps the greatest birthday thrill for John Kelly of Upper Horton was winning the Champion Gentleman rider at the Show on Wednesday. He celebrated his 19th birthday there. Also at the Show, congratulations were sent to Mr D H Drummond and his wife on their 40th wedding anniversary.

Local Sporting Events Results and Races Summary
The open flag race winner was D Ballarg with 1st place followed by D Flett. Under-16 results include Adex On slow Thompson in first place and Mrs J Blanch second. Open bending race top honors went to 5S Brazels with 1, B V Byrnes second. Under-16 bending saw A Brazils take first and second. Local cattle draft final led J Campbell with 163 points, tied for second between Mrs J Blanch and Mr B Forwood. Open cattle draft winner was J Kelly with 163 points, with L Ballylards and J Kelly’s runner-up nominations. Bullock riding crowned Mr Melluck first, Mr Heilerman second, and D Wilson third.
