Three youths charged over protected water rats found in river

Three young men faced charges after possessing 188 water rats at Hay. The animals are protected by law and were caught in the Laghlan river. Sydney firm eyes long term gold dredging on Clarence River

By Dredging Enterprise a Sydney company has undertaken six miles of river dredging below Tabulam on the Clarence and Rocky Rivers. A leading dredging firm in Australia and New Guinea is said to be interested. The area reveals 3,000,000 cabin yards of gold bearing wash and, if tests prove the deposit valuable, dredging will continue for many years. Operations will stay within the river bed and travel benches with testing starting soon.
