Manilla Country Party Branch Formed At Meeting
A large turnout at the Mechanic's Institute saw Manilla elect officers and reform a Country Party branch. W. A. Boman as president, C. Watts Heywood and M. Purll as vice presidents, D. H. Kennedy secretary, and C. Wilshire treasurer. The speech by Mr. Thompson highlighted the party's fights on tariffs, pensions, and the wheat bounty, urging local support for the upcoming New England contest. The branch pledged strong backing for Thompson and rejected amalgamation with the United Australia Party.
