Timber troubles stall NSW Housing Commission homes progress
At Manilla council, Alderman Gilmour reported builders for the New South Wales Housing Commission faced timber shortages from the local mill. About 3000 to 5000 feet of flooring meant for Sydney was tied up. The mill owner F R Heywood supplied logs a year ago and is obliged to saw locally to reduce freight. Local orders will grow once two electric motors and a regulator are installed, delayed by missing parts.
