Wheat Marketing Board poll set for July 17 1931
The Minister of Agriculture announces a petition led move to declare wheat a commodity under the Marketing of Primary Products Act 1927 1951 and a poll will be held Friday July 17 1931 by postal vote in the state. Growers must reside carry on wheat sale and cultivate at least 50 acres. press lists of district growers will be shown at centres. The Director of Marketing will handle returns. An adjacent land case at Narra involved three brothers Boland and others in grazing and land allotments with appeals leading to reversals and court actions. The Land and Valuation Court final decision overturned prior allotments and may require Board action. The Manilla water supply poll results show 137 for and 35 against with 1 informal vote. Other council matters include a bridge clearing contract, kerbside petrol pump permit, military clothing allotment, and unemployment drainage grant nearing exhaustion.
