The Tamworth Merino Ewe Competition concluded with Mr W. R. Busby Currabubula exhibiting the winning team, followed by Mr R. J. Faulks Manilla in second place and Mr 4 T Murray Bendemeer close behind. Judge N Carter Rangari Gunnedah praised the Faulks-bred team for large two year old ewes with medium stylish wool, though not as evenly balanced as the winner. The event drew 16 entries, reflecting strong district breeding efforts and excellent sheep condition.

Kennedy J D passes after long local service in Manilla
John Duncan Kennedy aged 80 dies at home in Manilla. Noted solicitor and long time public figure, he led the first Manilla Municipal Council from 1901 for 37 years including seven mayoral terms. He served as hospital director treasurer and secretary, patron of the RSL and first patron of the bowling club. Cremation to Beresfield after today’s Presbyterian service.
