Ingenious machines test Australian coins at Bank of New South Wales
Four new coin counting and testing machines installed at the Bank of New South Wales head office automatically analyze and separate good coins from spurious ones in under a tenth of a second. The Sydney inventor Mr. R J Lyttle demonstrated the unit, which handles Australian currency but can be adjusted for other systems. About a million coins passed through the devices in a few days, with counterfeit coins diverted to waste.
