Control of Retail Delivery Limits Weekly Orders to Four Pounds
A Manilla Business Mens' Association meeting discussed unfair delivery practices by local retail firms. If not stopped, authorities may act under National Security Regulations. From May 1 1942 no country shopkeeper may deliver to customers more than once weekly unless the order weighs four pounds or measures three feet in length, covering groceries provisions drapery textiles clothing boots shoes furniture and many other items. Delivery must not exceed once weekly by any means and both customer and shopkeeper are liable to penalties. An exception allows hospital boarding houses or hotels with more than 12 residents to receive deliveries more often but totals must be at least 20 pounds per delivery.
