The Manilla Express enters its 37th year serving Manilla and District. It invites reports of meetings and events, attends public meetings, and reports them fully. It seeks practical support from public and semi public organizations and offers subscription rates and ad rates.

Old age pensions will automatically increase from 17/6 to 18/4 weekly after July 1, reflecting higher living costs. The higher rate will apply through the next financial year, the largest rise since the first emergency adjustments by the Soltin Government under the Premiers' plan.
