Hosiery and linen items offered at special prices. Ladies sheer nylon hosiery usually 14/11 and lisle hosiery usually 9/11 now 6/11. Initial linen handkerchiefs, usually 4/11, now 1/11 each.
West Manilla youth Dudley Urquhart aged 19 fell 38 feet from the bridge over the Manilla River on Sunday night. He landed in six inches of water and was taken by ambulance to Manilla Hospital then transferred to Tamworth Base Hospital. His condition today is reported as satisfactory.
Colts defeated Wongo Creek while Stores beat Alpals on No 1 Oval. Stores closed at 165 with A McDonald 170 and B Berry 16 leading. Alpals bowler H Martin took 6 for 26. Colts posted 224 for 7 on No 2 Oval, Don May scoring 100 aided by Reading 37 Norris 34 not out, and bowler J Annis-Brown 3/43 helped dismiss Wongo Creek for 59. Barraba-Mannilla NW Council match drawn 227, Manilla 192. McKid 75 for Barraba and D O Brien 8/82 for Barraba mark the day’s notable performances.

The film Battle Circus centers on brave mobile hospital units in Korea and their swift, repeated relocation to save the wounded. It contrasts Major Sagpabid Bo and Lt Ruth Mc Cara with a secondary comedic note featuring Dale Robertson Joann Drue and Walter Brennan.
The Play Centre's year end shows 280 enrolments, 8 attendance daily vs 9 last year, and a three week pet show with many entries. Winners included Biggest pet Anne Bennett dog, Smallest Julie Thoreby bantam, Best fed Stephen Cotten dog, Happiest Cotten dog, Most colourful Judy, Noisiest Laurey Henner y cat, with special prize to Helen Theatre. Town Clerk R A Browne praised staff, parents, and public support.
Tar paving efforts outlined for Strafford Street to Market Street at 8 percent. Sealing plans extend to No. 3 program covering Market Street from Manilla to Namoi Streets and Namoi Street to Court Street. Court Street and Strafford Street segments to Manilla Street are included in the schedule.
