The Manilla Play Centre run by the Municipal Council and National Fitness Council opened January 4 and aims to enrol 180 to 200 by January 22. Daily attendance averages about 99 and is expected to rise as enrolments grow. Activities include cricket softball basketball badminton volleyball table tennis crafts and supervised swimming. Donations of felt wool paints are requested. Centre staff oversee activities and emphasize fair play self discipline leadership and personal development. Open 9am to 5pm daily except weekends with supervisor in charge Mr Patterson R. Austin and Miss Gentle.
The club reports a busy holiday period with John Moore organizing competitions. Results include J N Scott and J Ewart 156-149 in Consistency HDCP, W Coupland beating Frank Coorey in a playoff, and RK Grantham defeating W Martin 158-149. Arthur White dominates CNDBA Singles, State Singles see Brady over Cocking 31-18, and various State Pairs results follow.
